Research In Motion has appointed Rob Orr as the new Managing Director of its UK & Ireland business, and will take on the role as of 1st September 2012.Rob is currently Vice President, Product Management for the Europe, Middle East & Africa region, and has been with RIM for over six years. In that time he has been instrumental in helping the EMEA region grow to become a major part of RIM’s global business. With this new appointment, he now takes on the fresh challenge of maintaining and building on the strong business momentum in the UK & Ireland markets.As part of plans to ensure the RIM team in Europe is optimally structured to be fully focused on selling BlackBerry 7 smartphones and BlackBerry Mobile Fusion, and is prepared and ready for the launch of BlackBerry 10 in the first quarter of 2013, Stephen Bates, previously MD of the UK & Ireland, has moved to take on a newly created role of Regional Managing Director for Europe. Stephen will be responsible for market responsiveness, customer engagement and maximising employee focus across the European organisation.
