Research firm IDC has issued a new projection for mobile marketshare by 2016. The primary reason the IDC believes Windows Phone will garner 19.2% of the overall marketshare is due to the penetration of Nokia’s Lumia 900.The IDC believes BlackBerry will remain relatively stagnant and drop from 6% to only 5.9% by 2016. “Underpinning the smartphone market is the constantly shifting OS landscape,” IDC analyst Ramon Llamas said in a statement. “Android will maintain leadership throughout our forecast, while others will gain more mobile operator partnerships (Apple) or currently find themselves in the midst of a major transition (BlackBerry and Windows Phone/Windows Mobile).”Microsoft is definitely doing all they can to bolster Windows Phone adoption. Do you think the IDC’s projections are correct? Will RIM’s BlackBerry be surpassed by Windows Phone?via CNET
